![]() That will show decently how much it will change it, but won't be exactly the same as a Chemex brew. You may like them on Chemex but I don't so I would recommend buying just the filters (or borrow one from a friend lol) and filtering your French Press brew through one like you do now (with different filters I presume). Typically I'd say the dark roasts rely on those oils and that's why I prefer them in a method that doesn't filter those out. Those Chemex filters are boss and remove tons of things that the French Press just lets through - but just sludge, but oils as well which have a significant impact on the change in taste of the coffee. So French Press and Chemex will be actually pretty different. If money isn’t a concern, the stagg is amazing and I don’t have one bad thing to say about it. I saw someone mention the bonavita is 45$ on amazon - if that’s the case, I’d say try that one if money is a concern. Now, bonavida has good customer service and sent me a new base - which long story short I never got but I could have pursued the matter further and I’m sure they would have made it good but at that point I decided to get a whole new kettle and call it a day. which sets off an error on the base of the unit - this amounted to the water warming about half way, then the error popping up, and then turning it off and back on to finish heating the water. But besides that - my bonavita has what is referred to as the “hi error” which I believe is an error that occurs when your in high altitude and the boiling point of water is lower. Im not exactly sure what it is - but I feel that my control over the pour is better with the stagg. Please include cost, shipping and the website in the title.
